ITCS Name a Second Team to Take Part in Charity Football Event

ITCS name a second team to take part in charity football event

ITCS are entering not one, but two teams for the charity football tournament taking place at Pencoed Comprehensive School this Sunday. The tournament kicks off at 8am and will run constantly until the final whistle at 8pm.

The tournament was organised alongside a family fun day - that will take place at the same time – to raise money for local disabled children’s charity, Y Bont. The charity needs to raise money after receiving cuts to its funding.

ITCS, who is also sponsoring the tournament, have already entered the All Stars – a team who already stand as strong tournament favourites. But this morning saw a second team announced – the Dodgers.

The Dodgers will be captained by Steve Smart, who plays 5-a-side football on a weekly basis. The rest of the team includes:

    • Alan Davies
    • Simon Hughes
    • Richard Deere
    • Richard Jenkins
    • Andrew Martin

Speaking on behalf of the team captain, Richard Deere had the following to say about the team and their tactics:

“We’re planning to tire out our opposition through our supreme fitness levels and will run them ragged. That’s not to say we’ll be playing some beautiful football with a little bit of finesse, though.

We really want to win. It’s getting quite competitive in the office in the build-up to the tournament – especially as we’re entering two teams! Bragging rights are up for grabs, so we’ve got to win. The Dodgers are here to tear apart the geeks!”

All trash talk aside, Richard was keen to express how happy his team are to be taking part in an event that helps out Y Bont:

“They’re a great local charity and the work they do is fantastic. We would be more than happy to play for 24 hours if it meant raising more money – we would all need a brand new pair of legs but it would be worth it if it meant helping such a great local cause!”

With personal pride and office bragging rights on the table, the derby game between the Dodgers and the All Stars will definitely be one of the most entertaining games to watch on Sunday.
